Our recent Variety Show, featuring an eclectic mix of sketches, music and songs was was well received by the audience, who joined in the singing with much gusto, aided no doubt by the food, wine and beer consumed.

April's production of the comedy 'Last Seance' received much acclaim from the audiences, both for the acting and the most realistic set - for a review and pictures see 'Last Seance'.

Our production of 'The Wicked Witches of Oz' was an unusual take on the classic Wizard of Oz story, with a few surprises and a careful avoidance of 'that song'. We welcomed some new members to the Medstead stage, with the shows much appreciated by the audiences - 'excellent in all respects'. For a review and pictures, see 'The Wicked Witches of Oz'.

Our touring production 'Workers Playtime' was a nostalgic throwback to the 1940s and 50s featuring extracts from popular radio shows of the day. The packed audience in Four Marks Village Hall got into the swing of it and a good time was had by all, as well as helping raise much needed funds for their hall restoration. For a review and picture, see 'Workers Playtime'.

Our 2017 'Old Time Music Hall' was an especial triumph. Packed with traditional songs, dances, monologues and sketches, it included plenty of opportunity for audience participation, which the cast and audience took to with gusto. Medstead Players History:

The Players date back to 1977 when a few people got together to put on a variety show on the then new Medstead Village Hall stage. Since then the group, who became the Medstead Players, has met to make friends, have fun and entertain. The productions vary enormously and are well received.

There are many jobs and activities undertaken by the group besides acting. We always need people to design and build sets, paint and decorate, make and find the costumes, operate the sound and lights, hunt out props, direct and prompt. There are other activities such as script writing, musical and choreography participation and stage management. A whole host of people are needed to ensure a successful production.

Over the years, we have raised thousands of pounds for various local and national charities. Members have also taken part in neighbouring societies' productions, as well as taking parts as extras for film and TV.

We meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month. The Players are a friendly group, always keen for new members, so if you feel you would like to get involved, then please contact the Membership Secretary, who would be delighted to tell you all about the Medstead Players and what we do.
